UP Family ID (Ek Parivar Ek Pahchan) is an initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh aimed at creating a comprehensive and verified database of families residing in the state. Under the system, each family is provided a unique 12-digit Family ID, enabling the government to identify eligible beneficiaries and connect them with various state and central government welfare schemes. The initiative is designed to make welfare delivery more targeted, transparent and proactive. Instead of families having to apply separately for different government benefits and repeatedly submit the same information, the Family ID can serve as a common identifier for accessing eligible schemes and services.
Key features and benefits
Existing ration card holders need not apply separately: Families that already have a valid UP ration card do not need to obtain a separate Family ID. Their ration card number serves as the Family ID.Single identifier for multiple schemes: The Family ID helps integrate beneficiary information across government departments, making it easier for eligible families to access benefits under schemes relating to scholarships, pensions, employment, housing and other welfare programmes. It can also facilitate access to initiatives such as Rojgaar Sangam and Kanya Sumangala Yojana.More efficient and transparent welfare delivery: By bringing family-level information onto a common platform, the system helps the government identify eligible beneficiaries more efficiently and reduce duplication in beneficiary databases.Prevention of duplication and fraud: Aadhaar-based verification and integration of departmental databases help identify duplicate records and strengthen the authenticity of beneficiary information.Family-level income assessment: Information relating to the income and occupation of earning members can be consolidated at the household level. This can help determine eligibility for schemes where benefits are linked to family income.
