Prayagraj: UP Board is preparing to bar around 100 schools from hosting board examinations for three years after receiving complaints that they facilitated unfair means during the 2026 high school and intermediate examinations. The move is part of a wider exercise to identify institutions and examination personnel allegedly involved in compromising the integrity of the exams.Board is also drawing up a separate list of teachers, including invigilators and centre superintendents, against whom complaints of encouraging or facilitating cheating have been received. UP Board secretary Bhagwati Singh said the allegations concerning school managements and examination staff were being verified through the respective district inspector of schools offices (DIoS).Singh said the verification would determine the final list of institutions facing action. “Around 100 schools are likely to be debarred from functioning as examination centres for three years, while nearly 250 teachers may also face action,” he said.Board’s scrutiny comes ahead of the next examination cycle as it seeks to tighten the system for identifying and preventing malpractice. Schools found responsible for allowing or promoting unfair means will be kept out of the examination-centre network for three years, according to the proposed action.Singh also warned that UP Board would take stringent action against impersonators and people posing as authorised examination staff. Citing provisions of Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, he said those found impersonating candidates or working as fake invigilators could face imprisonment of up to 10 years.The law also provides for seizure of property in cases where individuals are found promoting unfair means for financial gains, Singh said.
