Prayagraj: As per the new guidelines of the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UP Board) for the academic session 2026–27, schools will now have to conduct morning assembly in English and in any other language being taught there at least once a week. The new guidelines would be effective in more than 29,000 govt-aided and unaided schools across the state.And the registration process for Class 9 will begin on the official portal of the board from day one of the new academic session starting from April 1.Secretary Bhagwati Singh directed the schools to initiate admissions and registration process simultaneously, ensuring that key details such as name, parents’ names, and date of birth are thoroughly verified. Students’ records must be cross-checked, and applications will only be completed after obtaining a no-objection certificate from parents.The Board has also reiterated the importance of maintaining a minimum of 75% attendance for all students appearing in annual examinations. To enrich morning assemblies, schools have been instructed to include news-reading sessions where difficult words will be explained with proper pronunciation, meanings, and usage in sentences.Schools have been directed to conduct awareness drives on harmful effects of excessive mobile usage and completely prohibit mobile phones on the premises. Further strengthening academic accountability, all answer sheets and summer vacation assignments will be securely stored by schools and uploaded on the board’s website as per the instructions. To promote digital safety, ‘Cyber Clubs’ will be established in schools to educate students, teachers, and staff about safe internet practices and cybercrime awareness.According to the academic schedule, half-yearly examinations will be conducted based on approximately 60% of the syllabus completed by Sept. The High School and Intermediate board examinations are scheduled to commence from Feb 2027, with practical exams to be held between Jan 27 and Feb 10, 2027 while pre-board practical exams for Class 12 will begin from Jan 11, followed by written exams from Jan 18.The Board has also set clear deadlines for syllabus completion, with Jan 10 as the last date for Classes 10 and 12, and Jan 25 for Classes 9 and 11. Annual examinations for Classes 9 and 11 will be conducted from Feb 1 to 10, and marks be uploaded on the official website by the third week of March.
