Prayagraj: Recruitment to 23,899 posts of principals, headmasters, lecturers and assistant teachers in 4,512 aided secondary schools and affiliated primary schools across Uttar Pradesh is likely to begin soon, with the education directorate sending details of 21,252 more vacancies to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC).Earlier, the directorate sent requisitions for 1,172 headmaster posts in aided high schools and 1,475 principal posts in intermediate colleges. With this, the commission has received details of all 23,899 vacancies.The latest requisition includes 17,740 trained graduate teacher (TGT) posts, 2,615 lecturer (PGT) posts and 897 assistant teacher posts in affiliated primary schools.The commission will scrutinise and verify the vacancies before issuing an advertisement. The recruitment drive is expected to offer a major opportunity to candidates seeking teaching and administrative posts in aided institutions.Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on Monday declared the preliminary examination results for lecturer recruitment in govt intermediate colleges in two subjects — sociology and geography — under the 2025 recruitment drive.According to commission secretary Girijesh Kumar Tyagi, 9,430 of the 31,116 registered candidates appeared for the sociology exam, while 11,378 of the 23,951 registered candidates took the geography exam.Against 73 sociology lecturer vacancies — 23 in the male branch, 44 in the female branch and 6 in special institutions — 806 candidates have been provisionally declared successful for the main examination. In geography, 1,927 candidates have qualified provisionally against 64 vacancies, including 38 in the male branch and 26 in the female branch.The results are available on the UPPSC website. The commission said fewer candidates qualified in some categories as they did not secure the prescribed minimum qualifying marks. The schedule for the main examination and details of online applications will be announced separately.In another recruitment update, the Hindi typing test for 169 candidates who cleared the first-stage examination for 14 computer assistant posts will be held in Lucknow on Aug 18. Candidates may use either Kruti Dev-010 or Mangal InScript fonts.UPPSC will also conduct interviews on July 29 and 30 for 6 posts of deputy dairy development officer in the dairy development department.
