Pune: An unidentified man on Thursday evening assaulted a 70-year-old woman and robbed her of earrings and a gold chain collectively worth Rs 90,000 in Wagholi.It happened around 6 pm when the woman was grazing cattle on her farm. She sustained injuries to her head and face. Her 46-year-old son lodged a complaint with the Wagholi police.An officer from Wagholi police said, “The complainant said his mother would take their cattle to graze on their farm every day. On Thursday evening, a relative contacted him and told him that a woman was lying unconscious on their farm. When he went there, he found it was his mother. She had injuries on her face, head, hands and left ear. Her gold earrings and gold chain were missing.”The woman is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Yerawada. “We suspect, an unidentified man assaulted and robbed the woman upon finding her alone on the farm. We have collected CCTV footage from the area and are trying to identify him,” he said.
