Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Sunday announced the establishment of the University of Physics and Sciences on the Patna Science College campus, describing it as a major step towards transforming Bihar into a hub of scientific research, innovation and higher education.The announcement was made during his inspection of the historic college campus in the state capital.“The new university will serve as a centre of excellence for high-level education, innovation, and cutting-edge research in the field of physics and science. Through it, students and researchers will be provided world-class academic and research facilities,” Choudhary said.Reaffirming the govt’s commitment to strengthening higher education, scientific research and innovation, he said, “The University of Physics and Sciences will become a major centre of knowledge, research, and scientific excellence not only for Bihar but for students and researchers across the entire country.”Recalling the rich legacy of Patna Science College, the CM said the institution has a glorious academic and scientific tradition. He added that the govt aims to restore the college’s former stature by developing it once again into a leading national centre for scientific research and innovation.Choudhary directed officials to prepare a time-bound action plan for establishing the university and undertaking the comprehensive development of the campus. He said modern laboratories, research centres, advanced academic infrastructure and international-standard facilities would be created to enable Bihar to set new benchmarks in science and technology.He also said the college’s basic infrastructure would be strengthened, while hostel accommodation and playground facilities would be upgraded.Patna Science College principal Prof Alka gave a detailed presentation to the chief minister on the institution’s existing infrastructure, academic facilities and future requirements.During the visit, Choudhary also inspected Patna Collegiate School and reviewed its facilities. Calling it an institution with a glorious history, he said the school would be developed into a model institution equipped with modern infrastructure to provide students with quality education.
