Thiruvananthapuram: Body of an unidentified woman, believed to be around 55 years old, was found floating in the sea near Bollard Pull Test Centre off Vizhinjam on Saturday morning, prompting a police investigation.Body was spotted around 10am, following which personnel from Vizhinjam Fisheries Control Room, marine enforcement wing and coastal police jointly recovered it from sea and brought it ashore.After completing inquest proceedings, the body was shifted to Govt Medical College Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. Preliminary findings suggest that the incident may have occurred on Saturday morning, though exact cause and time of death will be determined after postmortem examination.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation to establish the woman’s identity and circumstances leading to her death.As part of the investigation, officers are examining CCTV footage from Kovalam and other coastal areas to trace the woman’s movements before the incident. Police are also contacting stations across Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts to verify whether any missing person cases match description of the deceased.
