Nagpur: The decomposed body of an unidentified man in his 30s was found near Khairi bridge on the outskirts of Nagpur, under the jurisdiction of New Kamptee police station.The cops believe the victim could be someone with a criminal history and was lured with an enticement to consume liquor and enjoy a feast. Local labourers alerted authorities after a strong stench drew them to a bushy area where they went to relieve themselves.The body lay on the ground in an advanced state of decomposition, bearing deep stab wounds to the ribs and a blunt force injury to the skull, indicating a brutal murder. Forensic experts at Kamptee Rural Hospital examined the remains and estimated the time of death to be between 36 and 72 hours before discovery.No personal belongings, such as a mobile phone, purse, or wallet, were found on the victim, sources said. Police thoroughly checked for any distinguishing marks or tattoos but found none. Investigators noted the deceased wore shoes of a specific brand and visited the respective outlet in the hope of tracing purchase details or leads, but the enquiry yielded no results.The New Kamptee Police registered a case of murder and are facing a tough challenge in identifying the victim and unravelling the motive behind the killing.Efforts are under way, including circulating descriptions and checking missing persons reports from surrounding areas.
