Mangaluru: Health department officials on Saturday conducted a raid and sealed an unauthorised blood testing laboratory in Vittal, in Dakshina Kannada. Officials said the complainant, Sharath Shetty, conducted a CBC test at Raksha Clinic & Laboratory in Vittal. Discrepancies were found in the lab reports, prompting him to get the blood tested elsewhere. Additionally, the clinic provided reports without signatures, leading to a complaint filed with the district health and family welfare officer for action against the establishment.Following this, the taluk health officer (THO) of Bantwal and the kdistrict planning development officer/Bantwal taluk nodal officer were directed to conduct an inquiry. Accordingly, the officials conducted the inquiry and submitted a report.
Based on this report, district enforcement officer Dr Deepa Prabhu, THO Dr Ashok Kumar Rai, and staff visited the clinic and conducted an inspection. Officials found the clinic was functioning without Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) registration. Officials shut down and sealed the clinic immediately, with the help of Vittal police.DHO Dr Thimmaiah HR said strict action will be taken against such unauthorised establishments found operating under the KPME Act, in the district in the future.
