Ultraviolette has updated its F77 electric motorcycle but there’s a catch! The update comes not by changing any hardware, but purely through software. The Bengaluru-based startup has rolled out a performance update called the Gen3 Powertrain Firmware. Interestingly, it’s completely free for all existing F77 owners. At the heart of this new update is a feature called Ballistic+, a new mode that injects more urgency into the throttle response, making the F77 feel quicker and more alive the moment you twist the throttle. While the bike’s peak output figures remain unchanged at 40 hp and 100 Nm of torque, the riding experience is said to be sharper and more engaging. What makes this upgrade special is its intelligence. Ultraviolette has tapped into Violette A.I., its connected software system that learns from rider behaviour. This system has analysed data from over 8 million km of global on-road usage. It looks at how riders accelerate, how they brake, what kind of roads they ride on, and how they interact with the bike. All this information feeds into the bike’s central brain, allowing it to continuously fine-tune performance through the new Ballistic+ mode.
The Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) of the F77 plays a crucial role in this transformation. It processes more than 3,000 data points in real time, adjusting the motor controller, drivetrain, and battery management system on the go. The result is a more dynamic and responsive motorcycle: all without touching the hardware. Battery capacities also remain unchanged at 7.1 kWh for the Mach 2 and 10.3 kWh for the Mach 2 Recon, with no revisions to range figures. What’s even better is that this Gen3 firmware is fully backwards-compatible. So whether you’re an early adopter or a recent buyer, you’ll be able to download and install this upgrade free of cost.
