Nagpur: Ridima Banode (14) and Srushti Bhagat (8) did the bulk of the scoring as United Basketball Academy (UBA) edged out Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana (SNG) 38-33 to enter the quarterfinals of the 25th Prakash Rajurkar Memorial inter-club junior district basketball championship at Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) Shankar Nagar court on Monday.With this five-point defeat, the SNG girls crashed out of the U18 selection tournament organised by the Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA). In an exciting league round game, UBA took an early lead, but SNG fought their way back to take a four-point advantage at the breather. After the break, UBA won the third quarter by four points to bring parity. In the last period, UBA defended well and defeated SNG 10-5 to register an emphatic five-point victory. The quarter-wise progress in UBA’s favour read 14-11, 7-14, 7-3, 10-5.In the boys’ section, hosts DKM-A outclassed Sanskar Krida Mandal (SKM) 52-18 to emerge as the pool A toppers and qualify for the quarterfinals.
