Nagpur: Two youths drowned while swimming in Zilpi lake in Hingna on Wednesday afternoon. The victims were among a group of five who had gone for a leisurely swim, when the incident occurred around 3.30pm on Wednesday. Joint teams of Hingna police and the NMC fire brigade recovered the bodies around 7pm after a prolonged search operation.Deceased were identified as Aditya Chahande (19), a resident of Rajiv Nagar and Abhishek Sirsam (19), a resident of Sindwada in Hingna. According to complainant Akash Matchirke, both victims were scheduled for night duty on May 13. The five reached the lake around 3.30pm, and Aditya, Abhishek entered the lake for a swim. However, the duo started drowning due to the lake’s depth. Their friends raised an alarm, but they drowned before help could arrive.Akash alerted cops as well as emergency services. The bodies were later sent to the rural hospital in Hingna. Police have registered a case of accidental death. TNN
