Patna: Two youths died after allegedly being attacked with a knife near Kali Mandir at Khajraitha Nayatola village under Bharat Khand police station area of Khagaria district on Thursday night. The motive behind the attack is not yet clear. Police said on Friday that three persons have been detained in connection with the incident.The deceased were identified as Gaurav Kumar, 23, and Ankur Kumar, 22, both residents of Khajraitha Nayatola village.According to their families, the two sustained serious injuries after being attacked with a knife. They were taken to a hospital in Parbatta, where doctors provided initial treatment before referring them to Begusarai for advanced medical care. However, both died on the way to Begusarai.Gaurav’s mother, Sarita Devi, alleged that the son of a local resident, Pankaj Chaudhary, attacked her son with a knife. The circumstances leading to the attack, however, have not yet been established.Bharat Khand police station SHO Savitri Kumari said police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. “Police detained Sumesh Kumar and two other persons in connection with the case. The incident appears to have occurred due to some old enmity between the accused and Gaurav,” she said.The bodies have been sent to a govt hospital for postmortem. An FIR has been registered on the basis of a complaint from the deceased’s family against three named persons, the SHO said. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the possible involvement of other suspects.Police are also questioning the detained persons to establish the sequence of events and determine the motive behind the attack.Following the killings, tension was reported in the village. Additional police personnel have been deployed as a precautionary measure, while security forces are maintaining a close watch on the area to prevent any escalation.The police said further action would be taken on the basis of the investigation and evidence gathered during the probe.
