Erode: A 44-year-old mason and a 55-year-old woman construction worker died after a mini lift snapped and fell on them at an under-construction house site at Solar near Erode on Saturday evening.The deceased have been identified as P Devaraj, of Kamaraj Nagar in the city, and construction worker M Mariammal, 55, of Sivagiri. They were working at the house site of K Chellappan, 76, a retired Electricity Board employee from Kuppampalayam near Kodumudi Salaiputhur, on Iraniyan Street at Solar. The accident occurred when the lift suddenly snapped and fell on Devaraj and Mariammal who were standing below. Both suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot. The bodies were sent to the Erode Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
