Buxar: Two teachers, accused of serious misconduct against female students at a govt school in Dumraon block of Buxar district, were dismissed from service on Monday following departmental proceedings.The dismissed teachers have been identified as Virendra Prasad, an assistant teacher, and Arvind Kumar, a teacher posted at Middle School, Nathuni Ahir Ka Dera, in Dumraon block. Both have also been barred from future appointment to any govt post.The action came after education minister Mithilesh Tiwari issued stern directives in the matter. The allegations against the teachers included molestation, circulation of an objectionable video and threats through audio messages. Departmental proceedings found the charges to be substantiated.Soon after the incident came to light, the minister directed Buxar district magistrate Sahila and superintendent of police Shubham Arya to register an FIR against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Police have registered an FIR against three teachers, including the school headmaster, on the complaint of the victim girl’s mother. The minister also directed that, after arrest, the case be pursued through a speedy trial in a fast-track court.Departmental proceedings were initiated on the basis of a report submitted by Sudhanshu Kumar, the Dumraon block education officer. The two teachers were suspended on Sept 2, chargesheets were issued on Sept 3 and a departmental inquiry was subsequently conducted.After examining the inquiry report, the disciplinary authority recommended dismissal from service. The education department then ordered their dismissal under Rule 14 (XI) of the Bihar Government Servants (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 2005.Education minister Tiwari said there would be no compromise on discipline in schools, the safety of students or the sanctity of the teacher-student relationship. He said those who violate the trust between teachers and students have no place in the teaching profession and no leniency would be shown in such cases.The minister said the state govt was committed to ensuring the safety of children and that complaints of mistreatment of students would be taken seriously. He added that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
