Varanasi: In a joint operation on Friday, the Railway Protection Force and the Govt Railway Police caught two smugglers and recovered 19 gold bars weighing a total of 2,215 grams from them.Acting on a tip-off, the joint team of RPF and GRP checked two individuals standing in Coach No B/8 of Train No 20503 (Dibrugarh Rajdhani) upon its arrival at Varanasi Junction. Upon checking, it was found that they carried 19 gold bars, which were concealed by cutting open the waistband of their trousers. The arrested persons were identified as Balaso and Tejas Balasaheb Pawar. During interrogation, both disclosed that the gold was smuggled from Africa to Bangladesh.TNN
