Surat/Rajkot: Two students lost their lives in separate tragic incidents reported in Surat city and Dhrangadhra town of Surendranagar district on Tuesday.In Surat, a Class IX student was electrocuted during a physical training class on the terrace of a municipal school, while in Surendranagar, a 6-year-old boy died after falling through the floor of a moving school bus.School principal Mustafa Miya Malek told TOI that the students were returning to their classrooms when the boy, Abdul Rehman Abdul Salim Shaikh, accidentally came in contact with a live wire connected to a light pole near the terrace wall. He died in New Civil Hospital.In Dhrangadhra taluka, Devendrasinh Solanki, a higher KG student, was travelling from Khambhada village to Om Shanti Vidyalaya in Rajasitapur when a metal sheet on the floor of the school bus came loose during the journey, causing the child to fall onto the road through the opening. He suffered severe head injuries, including a brain haemorrhage, and later succumbed to them.The bus driver was reportedly unaware that the child had fallen through the vehicle and continued the journey until he was informed later. School authorities also learned of the incident only after the child was taken to hospital.
