Hassan: Two PU students drowned in a pond at Sakleshpura, Hassan district, on Saturday. The deceased are Bharath and Mithun. The duo took cattle for grazing, and when a cow entered the pond, one of them got into the water to pull it back out, but slipped and drowned. Another boy attempted to rescue his friend, but also drowned.Later, the bodies of the duo were retrieved and shifted to a govt hospital in Sakleshpura. MLA S Manjunath visited the hospital and urged the state govt to issue compensation of at least Rs 10 lakh each, to the families of the deceased. A case was registered by Sakleshpura police in this regard.
