Chennai: Two men were killed in separate incidents within the limits of Mambalam police station in T. Nagar on Wednesday night. Two persons were arrested in connection with the incident.In the first incident, Rajendran, 50, a resident of Kannammapet in T. Nagar who worked as a housekeeping worker at a wedding hall, was found dead with head injuries on Thyagaraya Road. Passers-by alerted the police and he was shifted to the ESI Govt Hospital in KK Nagar. A post-mortem examination confirmed that he died due to assault injuries.Police investigation revealed that an argument broke out between Rajendran and Balaji, 34, an autorickshaw driver from the same locality, when they were consuming alcohol together at a TASMAC outlet near Pondy Bazaar on Wednesday evening. When Rajendran was walking back home, Balaji assaulted him and fled the scene. He was later arrested and booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.In the second incident, Ravi Kumar, 46, a native of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, died after he was attacked in the parking area of a wedding hall on Thyagaraya Road. Police arrested his colleague Mani alias Sornakumar, 65, a native of Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district. During interrogation, Mani admitted that he attacked Ravi Kumar with a log after being reprimanded over his work. Mani was arrested on charges of murder, produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
