COIMBATORE: The prohibition enforcement wing (PEW) of the Coimbatore city police on Sunday seized more than four kg of ganja and arrested two men on charges of peddling the contraband.The arrested men have been identified as M Gokulnath of Krishnagiri, who resides in Kavandampalayam, and S Vasanth of Peelamedu.The operation was executed following a tip-off received by PEW. A special team led by inspector Miadit Mano intercepted a two-wheeler near the IOB Colony at Maruthamalai Adivaram in Vadavalli. During a detailed search of the vehicle, police personnel recovered a stash of ganja weighing 4.100 kg concealed inside. The contraband and the two-wheeler were confiscated.PEW registered a case against the duo under sections 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(B) and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Following their formal arrest, the men were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. Investigators are tracking down the supply network to trace the origin of the contraband.
