Bokaro: Two Maoist operatives were arrested from Giridih district in a joint operation of Bihar special task force (STF) and local police on Monday. Both were named in criminal cases and had been hiding here, the police said. Confirming the development, Sadar subdivisional police officer Jeetvahan Oraon said, “A team of the Bihar STF came to Giridih. With the help of Bengabad police, two men were arrested. Bihar police informed us that Maoist cases are registered against them. Both accused were taken to Bihar for further investigation.” The accused were identified as Pankaj Yadav, a resident of Chilakhhar village under Charakapatthar police station in Jamui district of Bihar, and Pawan Singh. Pawan is a native of Tantibhagalpur village under Satgawan police station of Koderma district. They were hiding in Manjhlatol village under Golgo panchayat at the time of arrest. Police said Pawan and Pankaj are both active Maoist operatives and cases are registered against them across several police stations in Bihar and in Giridih and Koderma districts in Jharkhand. Recently, the duo shot at a former Maoist Lakhan Yadav in Jamui after he was released from jail.
