Ramgarh: Four policemen deployed at Rajrappa Temple in Ramgarh district for crowd control were suspended for allegedly beating up a devotee on Sunday. A video of the incident went viral on social media on Monday.Ajay Panda, a senior temple priest, said that on Sunday, there was devotee rush since early morning and police personnel were deployed for controlling crowds. He said that a devotee who had come with his family tried to enter the temple through the exit gate, and it led to a clash with police personnel.

Another priest said, “A devotee from Jamshedpur engaged in a heated argument with constables deployed at the exit gate after a senior citizen was allowed entry and he also wanted to enter through there.”Ramgarh SP Ajay Kumar said the four Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) constables were suspended after an inquiry by DSP-cum-subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Chandan Kumar Vats found them guilty.“We issued suspension orders to constables Shyamlal Mahto, Radhe Shyam Kumar, Bahadur Oraon and Johnson Surin with immediate effect,” a police statement read.Kumar, who visited the temple, said that a senior citizen of the devotee’s family was allowed to enter through the exit gate on humanitarian ground, but other members forcibly tried to do so, which led to a heated argument with the constables.Jharkhand State Hindu Darmik Nyas Board member Rakesh Sinha on Monday wrote to DGP Tadasha Mishra requesting a high-level probe into the incident and suspension of the police personnel till the inquiry is completed.Tousands of devotees from various states visit Rajrappa Temple daily to offer prayers to Maa Chhinnamastika.
