Kanpur: A road accident on the national highway in Hamirpur on Wednesday afternoon killed two people and left three others seriously injured after an out-of-control truck loaded with gravel overturned onto an e-rickshaw near Kundaura village in the Sumerpur police station area.According to information, the truck was carrying gravel from Kabrai towards Kanpur when it suddenly went out of control and overturned onto the e-rickshaw, which had five people aboard. Two people died on the spot and three others suffered serious injuries.Following the accident, chaos prevailed on the highway. After receiving information, Sumerpur police station personnel reached the spot and began relief and rescue operations. The truck driver was trapped in the cabin and was extracted after considerable effort and sent to hospital. The injured were admitted to the district hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.Rajesh Kamal, who was present at the scene, said that the accident occurred due to the truck going out of control and overturning. Police cleared the damaged vehicles from the highway and restored traffic.The identities of the injured and the deceased were established. The injured truck driver responsible for the accident was identified as Kaku (35), a resident of Nawabganj, Unnao. E-rickshaw passenger Chandni (32) and her 5-year-old son were injured. Shivkumar (38), a resident of Jhanjhariya Dera, was also injured. E-rickshaw driver Baliram Nishad (40) and his wife Santoshi Nishad were killed. Both were residents of Bada Kachhar.
