Times News NetworkKanpur: Police are investigating a murder-suicide case involving a 25-year-old man from Kanpur Dehat who allegedly slit the throat of a 15-year-old girl before hanging himself.A mobile phone and the weapon used in the crime have been recovered and are being examined. The police said the two were in a relationship, but the girl’s family had opposed their marriage. Enraged by this, the man allegedly killed the girl on Tuesday and later died by suicide.According to reports, a resident of Akaru, had no children, and called his nephew to care for him as his health deteriorated. During this period, the nephew developed a relationship with a distant relative living in neighbourhood.Meanwhile, police investigation revealed that discussions took place between the two families on Tuesday regarding the relationship, during which both sides agreed that the couple should stay away from each other.The post-mortem report stated that the accused died of asphyxiation caused by hanging, while the girl’s death resulted from excessive blood loss.ASP Alok Prasad said the police team, recovered a blood-stained vegetable knife used in the crime from near the girl’s body. Police also recovered a mobile phone that the accused had given the girl, while his own phone was found near his body. Both devices will be sent for examination to ascertain the sequence of events and establish the facts of the case.ASP said that the young man and the teenage girl were distant relatives.
