Bokaro: Two people were killed and four others were critically injured when a trailer rammed into a roadside hotel near Nagen More on NH-32 in Bokaro district on Sunday.Police said the trailer was travelling from Chas towards Purulia in West Bengal around 6.30 am when the driver allegedly lost control while trying to avoid a motorcycle. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into the hotel, where several people had gathered for morning tea.The deceased were identified as Guhiram Jha (71) and Sidam Rai (51), both residents of Sardaha village. They died on the spot. Jha, a father of three, was a regular visitor to the hotel, while Rai was disabled. Their bodies were handed over to their families after post-mortem examination.The injured were identified as Ranjit Mahto (55) and Sadhana Devi (35), both from Jiwandih, Rustam Ansari (40) of Kalikapur, and trailer driver Dilip Kaivat (30), a resident of Jehanabad in Bihar. All four were admitted to Bokaro Sadar Hospital. The driver’s condition was stated to be critical.Angry residents blocked the highway for nearly five hours, demanding compensation for the victims’ families and widening of the accident-prone stretch. They said the narrow road had become dangerous because of frequent movement of heavy vehicles.Chas BDO Pradeep Kumar met the families and assured assistance. The blockade was lifted after the administration, local representatives and police gave written assurances. Pindrajora police station officer in-charge Ravi Kumar said an FIR had been registered and the trailer seized.
