Chennai: Two youths from Tiruvallur district died on the spot after a lorry crashed into their two-wheeler on Mamandur Palar river bridge in Chengalpet district on Wednesday.The deceased were identified as Abinesh, 24, and John Charles, 25. They were travelling along the bridge when a lorry approaching from behind crashed into them. The youngsters, despite wearing helmets, died on the spot. Padalam police rushed to the scene, and an investigation revealed that the two youths, who had set out from Avadi on Wednesday morning, were travelling towards Puducherry via Chennai-Trichy National Highway. Police sent their bodies to Chengalpet district government hospital for postmortem. Police have launched a search for the lorry driver, who drove away without stopping after the accident. The accident disrupted traffic movement on the Mamandur Palar river bridge for approximately one hour.
