Kanpur: Kanpur Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested two alleged drug smugglers and seized 218kg of ganja from their possession in the Bidhnu police station area.The arrested accused were identified as Rohit and Shivam.ADCP South Sudhakar Ramtek said that acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted two suspicious cars and detained their drivers. During a search of the vehicles, police recovered 218kg of ganja.During questioning, the accused allegedly revealed that the contraband had been brought from Odisha and was meant to be supplied in Chitrakoot and nearby districts.Ramtek said police also used electronic surveillance during the investigation and obtained audio recordings purportedly related to the transportation and supply of the consignment.Police said efforts were underway to trace other associates and the kingpin of the interstate smuggling network. They added that the remaining accused would be arrested soon.
