Prayagraj: A joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Karchana police arrested two youths on Wednesday night for allegedly staging a fake robbery and attempting to falsely implicate a man in the case.The accused, identified as Saurabh Nishad (26) and Veeru Nishad (23), are residents of Sirsa.Police said Karchana police received information on the night of July 4-5 about an alleged robbery in which Rs 33,200 cash and a gold chain were reportedly looted and a vehicle’s window was smashed.Acting on the information, a joint team of SOG (Yamunanagar Zone) and Karchana police launched an investigation. During the probe, the incident appeared suspicious. Analysis of CCTV footage and examination of technical and physical evidence revealed that the robbery complaint was fabricated, police said.Investigators found that the accused were travelling in a car without a registration number from Sirsa to Naini. Near Pipraon petrol pump, they allegedly got into an altercation with a man identified as Arun and assaulted him.Police said the duo later smashed the rear window of their own vehicle and threatened to implicate Arun in a robbery case. They subsequently lodged a false robbery complaint with the police.During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that they had been partying in Bhatauti and were heavily intoxicated. A case has been registered and further probe was on, police added.
