COIMBATORE: RS Puram police have arrested two men on charges of possessing prescription tablets for illegal sale. Police seized 159 tablets from the duo, identified as R Sabarisan Vishwa, 23, of Ramesh Nagar near Achanur in Thanjavur and N Thilagar, 23, of Anna Nagar in Thuraiyur.On Sunday, police received a tip-off about drug pill sales near the DB Road in RS Puram. Following this, they waited before a lodge in RS Puram. During late hours of Sunday, Vishwa and Thilagar came out of the lodge. Upon checking them, police found drug pills in their possession.Police conducted a search in the room the two men were staying in and found more tablets, syringes with needles and Rs 60,000 in cash. Police seized the tablets, syringes, cash and their mobile phones.Further inquiries revealed that Vishwa and Thilagar had procured the contraband from Trichy. They used to visit Coimbatore once a month and stay in the lodge. Since visitors were not allowed inside the lodge, they contacted the buyers over the phone and sold the contraband in places near the lodge.Police registered a case under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The duo were remanded in judicial custody.
