Bhubaneswar: Nayapalli police on Saturday arrested two men on the charges of robbery at a house in N-5, IRC Village, on Nov 17, 2019, police said on Sunday.According to police, two unidentified men had entered complainant Rabindra Nath Mishra’s house around 2pm, assaulted him with a sharp object and decamped with around 90 grams of gold ornaments, Rs 2,000 in cash and a cellphone.Police picked up Debendra Choudhary alias Lipu, 43, on Saturday, on the basis of specific inputs. He reportedly confessed that Sanjaya Kumar Hati, 56, had hired him and showed him the complainant’s house.Lipu allegedly claimed that he brought two others — Santosh Mallik of Pattamundai and Deepak Sutar of Fatepur — to carry out the robbery. The stolen valuables were later distributed among the group, he told police.Following Lipu’s statement, police arrested Hati from his residence. Officers recovered a pair of gold earrings belonging to the complainant from his possession. Preliminary verification revealed that Hati has a criminal past.
