T’puram: Police on Tuesday arrested two men in connection with an assault and robbery case reported in Valiyathura, where a youth was allegedly attacked by a group and robbed of his belongings. The arrested were identified as Abdul Khader (32), a resident near Beemapally UP School, and Zaheer Khan (25) of Vallakkadavu.According to the complaint, the incident occurred on March 17 near the Valiyathura bridge. The accused allegedly intercepted the complainant, verbally abused him and subjected him to physical assault. They then robbed him of his mobile phone and Rs 4,000 in cash. The complainant also stated that the assailants threatened him with a knife and forced him to consume MDMA. The accused were apprehended by city Dansaf team from Beemapally area and later handed over to Valiyathura police station for further legal proceedings. Valiyathura police are also probing the narcotics angle of the case. The accused were remanded in judicial custody after being charged with relevant sections of BNS. TNN
