Motihari: Following complaints of Pakistan-made bedsheets being sold in Raghunathpur and Chandmari localities of Motihari, police on Saturday detained two local hawkers for questioning. During questioning, the hawkers told police the bedsheets were being supplied by a textile shop at Banjariya Pandal Chowk in Motihari.East Champaran SP Swarn Prabhat said police were investigating the case, particularly the supply network through which the products were reaching the market. Police are also examining the source of the bedsheets and the role of those involved in their distribution.Central security agencies deployed along the India-Nepal border and East Champaran police have launched a drive to trace hawkers selling Pakistan-made bedsheets, cosmetics and other products in villages and towns. All police stations have been alerted to identify such sellers and trace the source of the merchandise.Police and security agencies are also examining the possibility of a wider supply network, given Motihari’s proximity to the porous India-Nepal border, which is used as a transit route for cross-border smuggling.Security agencies said smugglers dealing in Pakistani products remain active along the India-Nepal border and are supplying some textile shops in urban and semi-urban areas of bordering districts.According to customs sources, the India govt banned the entry of Pakistani products following the Pahalgam incident in 2025. Customs sources said agents were also smuggling Pakistani products, including fairness cream, from Bangladesh and Nepal into West Bengal and Bihar’s border areas.
