Kanpur: Special judge SC/ST Act Kanpur Nagar Shuchi Srivastava on Tuesday convicted two persons to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 14,000 each for committing murder.The convicts were named as Ajay Kashyap and Mini alias Brajesh Nai. According to special public prosecutor Pradeep Pachauri, the prosecution charged three persons with committing murder and under the SC/ST Act. During the trial, the court separated the file of the third accused, Sonu Sonkar, and tried the case against the two accused. The court also discharged the accused from SC/ST Act charges and tried the case for murder charges.The special prosecutor said that Amod Kumar lodged a report at the Kalyanpur police station on March 21, 2004, alleged that while his brother Avanish, owner of a garment shop located on Old Shivali Road, was selling goods to one Sunil Kuma, Sonu Sonkar, Ajay, Mini and two more persons reached there around 8 pm and shot Avanish and sped away.Avanish succumbed to his injuries while enroute to hospital. The doctors reported him brought dead.The prosecutor stated that since two accused, Ajay Kashyap and Mini alias Brajesh Nai, were juvenile, their trial was held at the Juvenile Justice Board. The prosecution produced as many as 10 witnesses. The court convicted the accused after the prosecution proved its case successfully against them, he said.
