Noida: Two foreign nationals, including a woman, were arrested in Greater Noida on Tuesday for allegedly possessing and smuggling narcotics, with police recovering 1 kg of a white powder suspected to be a prohibited substance.The arrests were made in a joint operation by the Surajpur police station team and the intelligence unit following information about foreign nationals allegedly involved in drug trafficking. Acting on the tip-off, a team raided a house opposite the stadium in Bhuda village and detained the two suspects.Police said the seized substance, estimated to be worth around Rs 20 lakh, was recovered along with four mobile phones, two electronic weighing scales, a black bag and four polythene packets allegedly used for packaging.ADCP Central Noida Swatantra Singh identified the accused as Sabi Joel, 32, a resident of Yaounde, Cameroon, and Amada Latifa, 33, from Agbor in Delta State, Nigeria.The white powder has been sent for forensic examination. Police said its exact composition and whether it constitutes a prohibited narcotic substance will be established only after the laboratory report.During questioning, the accused allegedly failed to produce their passports. Police said the intelligence unit has informed the concerned embassies and is verifying their immigration records, entry into India and other documents.A case has been registered at Surajpur police station under Sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act and Section 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.Investigators are examining the seized phones and other material to trace the source of the suspected drugs and identify their intended recipients. Further action will follow the forensic report and investigation.
