A devastating accident unfolded on NH-31 in Khagaria, where a fast-moving truck collided with a passenger van, tragically ending the lives of two individuals. The van was headed to a temple when the crash occurred, launching victims onto the roadside. Despite the rapid response of local residents trying to help, their efforts were in vain.

Patna: Two persons died after a speeding truck rammed into a van from behind on NH-31 in Khagaria district on Monday. The van, carrying 15-16 passengers, was on its way to Katyayani temple for worship when the accident occurred.Following the collision, two occupants of the van fell on the road and were run over by the truck, which continued moving ahead. Local residents rushed to the spot, but both victims had died by then.The deceased were identified as Dheeraj Kumar (22), son of Khoji Yadav, and Sanjeev Kumar (33), son of Thandu Yadav. Both were residents of Jagan Saidpur village under Samho police station area in Begusarai district.On receiving information, a team from Mufassil police station reached the spot. Mufassil SHO Amarjeet Pratap Singh said, “Prima facie, the accident appears to be a case of over-speeding and negligent driving. An investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against the driver found responsible.”Angered by the incident, villagers blocked NH-31, leading to long traffic snarls on both sides of the highway for several hours. Khagaria’s circle officer and the Mufassil SHO later reached the site and pacified the protesters, assuring appropriate action. The blockade was subsequently lifted.The bodies were sent to Khagaria Sadar Hospital for the postmortem.
