Prayagraj: Sleuths of cyber crime police station on Thursday arrested two men identified as Shashi Prakash Rai alias Rajan Sharma (36) and Manish Kumar Rai (39), residents of Azamgarh, on the charges of duping students by creating a fake website of the UP Board (Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad).The accused confessed that they created a fake website at a call centre operated by them. They even placed advertisements on social media sites offering to enhance marks on marksheets and to generate fake marksheets. Subsequently, candidates, parents, and educational institutions used to contact them. Upon contact, they would arrange for the fabrication of official seals, holograms, and marksheet proformas corresponding to the relevant colleges or universities. Thereafter, they would undertake the task of digitally editing and creating fake, backdated High School, Intermediate, and University marksheets and degrees for the candidates, parents, or educational institutions. Once the work was completed, they would sell these fake, backdated documents, to the concerned parties for Rs 4,000 to 5,000, via courier service. The prime accused, Shashi Prakash Rai alias Rajan Sharma, was involved in fabricating marksheets and degrees since 2014. They both sold over 5,000 fake degrees in past one decade. tnn
