Both the deceased children were pulled out of the water and taken to Rajkot Civil Hospital

Rajkot: Two five-year-old children drowned in a rainwater-filled pit at Lothda village near Rajkot on Monday, leaving their families devastated. Both children were from migrant labourer families from Madhya Pradesh who had settled temporarily in the village for work.The deceased were Hitesh Gautam, son of Chandraroshan Gautam and Manisha Nishad, daughter of Omkar Nishad.According to police, the children were playing with other youngsters near their homes when they wandered towards a pit filled with rainwater and drowned.A child witnessed the incident and alerted the families. Both the deceased children were pulled out of the water and taken to Rajkot Civil Hospital for emergency treatment, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.Police said Manisha was the only child of her parents, while Hitesh was the youngest of three siblings.Police registered a case of accidental death and further investigations are underway.
