Rajkot: A six-year-old family feud allegedly resurfaced in the death of a 16-year-old boy, who was allegedly killed by two brothers in Porbandar district in an act of revenge for the murder of their father, police said. The brothers allegedly took the teenager to an isolated spot near Odadar village, attacked him with a knife and buried his body.The deceased was identified as Vanraj alias Vani Vaghela. On Friday, police detained two brothers, aged around 18 and 13, both residents of the Ramkhada area of Odadar. Police said the brothers’ father, Lalu Mashiyava, had allegedly been killed by Vanraj’s father, Velji Vaghela, around six years ago.Vanraj’s decomposed body was found buried in a pit in the coastal wasteland near Odadar on Aug 31. A tattoo bearing the name “Vanraj” and a metal bracelet on his right hand helped investigators establish his identity, according to the FIR and a Porbandar Local Crime Branch statement.Police said Vanraj had left Porbandar with the two brothers on Aug 28 and did not return. CCTV footage showed the three together near the ST bus stand and Sudama Chowk before they boarded an autorickshaw. The driver later told investigators that he had dropped them at Odadar.During questioning, the brothers allegedly told police that they took Vanraj to an isolated spot near Odadar on the day of Raksha Bandhan, attacked him with a knife and buried his body, police said.Harbour Marine police registered a murder case on September 2. As police have described the suspects as minors, further proceedings are being carried out under applicable juvenile-justice provisions.
