Sullia: Sullia police Friday registered a case against two persons for alleged illegal sand mining and seized over 50 tonnes of sand worth approximately Rs 1.2 lakh at Shettiyadka in Thodikana village.Police said Santosh BP, along with police staff, raided the location and found nearly 20 tipper-loads of sand, weighing over 50 tonnes, stored at the site. Police alleged that Manu Permuda and Anthony of Chembu village had obtained and stored the sand illegally, without any licence or permission, and were loading it into trucks for sale.The sand was seized, and a case was registered at Sullia police station under Section 303(2) of the BNS, sections 4(1) and 21 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, and sections 3 and 44 of the Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1994. Further investigation is on.
