T’puram: Rescue teams on Sunday recovered the bodies of two fishermen who had gone missing in separate boat accidents off Thiruvananthapuram coast on Friday night, while intensive search operations continued for two others who remain missing.The body of Antony, 61, of Adimalathura, Vizhinjam, was recovered by a marine enforcement search team after the fishing boat capsized in rough seas off Vizhinjam coast. The body was located on the outer sea by fisheries sea rescue guards M Paniyadima, Nazrath, Robin and Robert aboard the boat Dheera. Personnel led by Vizhinjam coastal police station SHO C Babukurup completed the inquest and other legal formalities.After postmortem, Antony’s body was handed over to his family and the funeral was held. He is survived by his wife, Kunju Mary, and sons Vinu, Viji and Vibin. Kovalam MLA M Vincent visited the bereaved family.The accident occurred on Friday night when a fishing boat overturned amid heavy rain and turbulent sea conditions. Two fishermen who were with Antony—Cleetus and Mariyadas—managed to swim ashore and escaped, while another fisherman, John, remains missing.In the Muthalapozhy boat tragedy, the body of Freemon was recovered from Vettucaud-Kannanthura coast on Sunday morning. Following postmortem, the body was handed over to his relatives. The funeral has been scheduled at St Peter’s Church, Anchuthengu at 9.30am on Monday, after his father, who is working abroad, returns home. The body is currently being kept at Chirayinkeezhu taluk hospital mortuary.The search is continuing for Shibin, who also went missing in the accident. MLA Ramya Haridas and other public representatives visited the hospital to assess the situation and meet the bereaved family.
