Patna: The Congress has expelled two senior functionaries, Chhatrapati Yadav and Anand Madhav, from primary membership for six years for allegedly undermining the party’s basic principles, discipline and organisational dignity.Yadav is a former MLA, while Madhav served as former chairman of the research wing and also as a party spokesman. Both had publicly criticised AICC incharge for state affairs Krishna Allavaru and state chief Rajesh Ram, among others, over the party’s poor performance in the 2025 assembly elections.In the 2025 polls, the Congress contested 65 seats but won only six. In the previous Assembly elections, it had secured 19 seats out of 70 contested.Following the 2025 elections, Yadav and Madhav led a group of around three dozen state Congress functionaries and levelled a series of allegations against Allavaru and Ram. They claimed that party tickets had been sold and that a pick-and-choose method was adopted in selecting candidates. They continued issuing statements at regular intervals thereafter.“The state disciplinary committee has expelled Chhatrapati Yadav and Anand Madhav for issuing undesirable statements that was aimed at causing confusion, which undermined the party’s basic principles, discipline and organisational dignity,” state Congress media department chairman Rajesh Rathorre said on Wednesday.
