Kanpur: Police have filed a case against four people in Wajidpur murder case and arrested two of them. Search is on for the remaining suspects.A 26-year-old man was shot dead outside his home in Wajidpur village, under the Chaubepur police station area in Kanpur, late on Wednesday night. The victim, Girija Shankar Nishad, a loader driver from Chintapurwa village in Wajidpur gram panchayat, was taken to a hospital in Bithoor where doctors pronounced him dead.A case was registered against Kuldeep Nishad, his father Ramautar Nishad, Surendra Nishad, and an unidentified persons on the basis of a complaint by the victim’s family.ACP Ankit Kumar said the two families had a long-standing feud connected to the 2022 panchayat elections.Around 4 pm on Wednesday, nearly six hours before the shooting, Girija Shankar’s elder brother, Ramnaresh Nishad, allegedly got into an argument with Kuldeep over fishing. Kuldeep and his associates then allegedly assaulted Ramnaresh with sticks, causing a head injury. Ramnaresh later filed a police complaint and was treated at a hospital.Police teams had been deployed to track down the absconding suspects, said the ACP.
