Kanpur: The Special Task Force and Bisanda police recovered 30,000 bottles of codeine syrup, valued at about Rs 60.45 lakh, from a DCM in Banda and detained four people, police said.Acting on information about the illegal transportation of codeine syrup in the Banda area, the joint team traced and stopped the suspicious DCM. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 250 boxes containing 30,000 bottles of 100 ml each. Police estimated the total quantity at about 3,000 litres.Police said a car escorting the DCM was also seized from the spot. The detained men, linked to the two vehicles, were identified as Dhirendra, a resident of Nahar Purwa in the Bisanda police station area; Praveen alias Lucky, a resident of Lakhan Colony in Atarra; Rohit, a resident of Ramlila Maidan in Atarra; and Shekhar of Bhaina village in the Bahadurgarh police station area of Hapur district.Circle Officer Baberu Krishnakant Tripathi said police are questioning the accused to determine the source, intended destination, and supply network of the consignment.
