Mangaluru: Mangaluru City police have arrested two men in separate cases involving the alleged sale of MDMA and the supply of ganja. In the first case, Mangaluru East police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly possessing and selling MDMA from an autorickshaw on the service road between Pumpwell and Nanthoor.City police commissionr Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said that acting on a tip-off received on Tuesday, police conducted a raid and arrested Mohammed Irshad,30, a resident of Varkady, near Manjeshwar in Kerala. Police seized 13.7 g of MDMA, estimated to be worth Rs 1.4 lakh, along with cash and the autorickshaw allegedly used in the crime. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at Rs 2.9 lakh.A case has been registered at Mangaluru East police station under Sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Irshad was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.In the another case, Surathkal police arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly supplying ganja to college students. The investigation followed the questioning of Ashwin Xavier,24, who had been booked in a ganja-consumption case on Aug 17. During questioning, he reportedly identified Nithin Krishnan as a person involved in supplying ganja to college students.Police traced Krishnan, who was working as a therapist at an ayurvedic clinic near Padavu Maidan in Kadri, on Tuesday. They allegedly seized 1.2 kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 60,000, along with a mobile phone and a KTM motorcycle. Krishnan hails from Taliparamba taluk of Kannur district, Kerala, and has been residing in Konchady.A case has been registered at Surathkal police station under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B) and 27(b) of the NDPS Act. Krishnan was arrested and produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody, police said.
