Vadodara: Crime branch on Monday arrested two men for stealing Rs 2 lakh from a man in the Makarpura area of the city on Friday. The accused allegedly distracted Meraj Ali Sheikh and stole the cash from his bag when he was on his back from a bank.Sheikh filed a complaint at Makarpura police station, in which he said he withdrew Rs 2 lakh cash from a bank and was about to leave when the accused duo approached him. They engaged him in a conversation and took him outside the bank. One of them pinched the cash from Sheikh’s bag and the duo left.Sheikh discovered the theft a few moments later and tried to look for the accused. He then called police. Police nabbed the duo, Sajidkhan Pathan and Ayush Mishra, when they were in a car in the Danteshwar area on Monday. Police intercepted them and demanded the vehicle’s documents.When the duo failed to provide the documents, police questioned them further, after which they admitted to committing offences in the city. Police said the duo committed similar offences earlier and were allegedly involved in seven such thefts in Gujarat and Maharashtra.The accused has asked Sheikh for help, saying that they had a lot of cash that they wanted to deposit in a bank.
