Coimbatore: Two men were arrested on Friday, in connection with the murder of their friend in a drunken brawl near Bharathiar University on Thursday.Vadavalli police have identified the arrested as S Thilak Surya, 24 and S Akash, 22. Police said the two were friends with the deceased T Sasi Kumar, 25, of Kalveerampalayam. Akash was working as temporary staff at Bharathiar University, while Thilak and the deceased were daily wagers.Preliminary investigation revealed that on Wednesday night, all three went to an isolated place behind Bharathiar University to consumed alcohol. When they were intoxicated, an argument broke out between them, during which the accused assaulted Sasi Kumar and strangled him to death. They covered the body with tree branches before fleeing.The crime came to light when a man who went behind Bharathiar University to rear his cattle, found the body and alerted the police.Police have booked both the accused on murder charges.
