Coimbatore: TVK emerged as the leading party in Tirupur district, winning four of the eight assembly constituencies, while AIADMK and DMK secured two seats each.In the 2021 assembly election, AIADMK won Avinashi, Palladam, Tirupur North, Madathukulam and Udumalpet seats, while the remaining three seats – Tirupur South, Dharapuram and Kangeyam – went to DMK. The latest results mark a major shift, with TVK making strong gains. In Tirupur South, TVK candidate K Balamurugan won by 12,901 votes. He secured 73,793 votes, defeating DMK candidate and former mayor Dinesh Kumar, who polled 60,892 votes. BJP candidate Thangaraj finished third with 34,617 votes. In Tirupur North, TVK candidate and former MP Sathyabama defeated AIADMK’s MSM Anandan by 69,542 votes. She polled 1,30,725 votes, while Anandan secured 61,183 votes. CPI candidate Ravi finished third with 53,742 votes. In Palladam, TVK candidate Ramkumar defeated AIADMK’s Paramasivam by 37,897 votes. Ramkumar secured 1,21,297 votes, while Paramasivam came second with 83,400. DMK’s Selvaraj finished third with 78,625 votes. In Avinashi (SC reserved) constituency, TVK candidate Kamali, who secured 84,058 votes, defeated Union minister and BJP candidate L Murugan by 15,370 votes. He secured only 68,688 votes. In Madathukulam assembly constituency, DMK candidate Jayaramakrishnan won by a margin of 15,968 votes. He polled 70,458 votes, defeating AMMK candidate Shanmugavel, who secured 54,490 votes. DMK also secured a narrow victory in Udumalpet Assembly constituency, where its candidate M Jayakumar defeated AIADMK candidate Radhakrishnan by a margin of 2,882 votes. Jayakumar polled 68,549 votes, while Radhakrishnan secured 65,667 votes. TVK candidate Shankar came third with 59,831 votes. Meanwhile, in Kangayam, AIADMK candidate Nataraj emerged victorious by a margin of 8,123 votes. He secured 71,112 votes, defeating DMK candidate and sitting minister M P Saminathan, who polled only 59,230 votes. TVK candidate Mani Gounder finished third with 62,989 votes. In Dharapuram constituency, AIADMK candidate Sathyabama defeated DMK’s Indirani by a margin of 16,579 votes. Sathyabama polled 80,822 votes, while Indirani secured only 64,243 votes. TVK candidate Gowri Chitra finished third with 46,438 votes.
