Chennai: PWD Minister Aadhav Arjuna said on Saturday that the name of the TVK-led alliance and its future roadmap would be decided at a consultative meeting scheduled for Sept 9. “Our party leader and the leaders of the alliance will decide and announce the name of the front and its roadmap for the future political journey,” he said.Speaking to reporters at Ambedkar Thidal, the VCK headquarters, Arjuna said the meeting of leaders of TVK’s alliance partners and friendly parties will focus on finalising the alliance, naming the front and drawing up a roadmap for its political journey, including the upcoming local body elections and the 2029 general elections. VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan expressed willingness to participate in the TVK meeting, which will be held at the party headquarters in Panaiyur.Arjuna evaded questions on whether the alliance would project party chief C Joseph Vijay as its prime ministerial candidate for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. “There is a long time to go before that,” he said.Arjuna, along with his colleague N Anand, met TNCC president Manickam Tagore and Thirumavalavan at their respective offices and extended formal invitations to the meeting. The previous meeting was held on July 1.Asked about differences between the Congress and TVK over the prime ministerial candidate, Tagore said, “As far as we are concerned, our leader Rahul Gandhi is the PM candidate. The TVK leadership is also clear on that. Only a section of the media and certain people (in the TVK) are saying otherwise and creating confusion.” The TVK delegation will also meet IUML leader K M Kader Mohideen on Tuesday to extend an invitation.
