Chennai: A 29-year-old man died after being assaulted during a quarrel at a funeral procession in Washermenpet on Wednesday. Police arrested two people in connection with the case.Imran, 29, a resident of MKB Nagar in Vyasarpadi, was a ‘C’ category rowdy, involved in five criminal cases. Police said that on Wednesday, he was at the funeral of a relative at Moolakothalam burial ground, where he was playing drums. Later, an argument ensued between him and one Kader Basha of Sathyamurthy Nagar, and it escalated into a physical altercation. Kader Basha struck Imran on his chest after which the latter complained of severe chest pain and returned home in an autorickshaw.When Imran’s condition worsened after reaching home, his family members called for an ambulance and took him to Govt Stanley Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police later arrested Kader Basha and another person present at the scene.
