Gurgaon: Two young Haryana Police constables, barely two years into service, were killed on Wednesday afternoon when a truck rammed their patrol motorcycle near Sarurpur Chowk on the Ballabgarh-Sohna Road and dragged the bike for around 50 metres before the driver fled.Constables Naveen (24) and Abhishek (26), both residents of Bhiwani, were on routine patrol from Parvatiya Colony police post when the truck struck them with such force that one died at the spot while the other succumbed to injuries at BK Civil Hospital.Police said the impact crushed the motorcycle beneath the truck, which continued moving for nearly 50 metres before coming to a halt. The driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped. Passersby immediately alerted the police control room through 112, following which the injured constables were rushed to hospital in a pickup vehicle.Despite emergency treatment, Abhishek could not survive. Both constables had joined Haryana Police in 2024 and were posted at Parvatiya Colony police post only two months ago after being transferred to Faridabad. Neither was married.Residents said the accident occurred on a narrow stretch where trucks are often parked along both sides of the road, leaving little room for traffic. Rainwater accumulation further worsens driving conditions during monsoon, they added.“The road is already cramped because of parked heavy vehicles, and waterlogging makes it even more dangerous. Accidents waiting to happen have become common here,” said Ranjiv Singh, a witness. The crash also paralysed traffic for over an hour before police cleared the congestion. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding truck driver.
